Granite

Granite by definition is an igneous rock with at least 20% quartz by volume. It is formed from magma. Approximately 2/3 of the granite used is quarried in China, India, and Brazil. Available in a striking array of colors, granite’s durability and longevity make it ideal for kitchen countertops and other heavily used areas.

Granite is heat resistant, although direct application of localized heat sources is discouraged, as it could result in cracking.

Granite is scratch resistant.

Proper sealing of granite is strongly recommended to reduce the possibility of staining. Foods and drinks that contain acid can etch and dull the stone. Cleaners with vinegar, lemon juice, or acids should not be used.
